The journey is the only chapter of the installation- novel Una storia di concidenze by the artist Giammarco Cugusi, realized on the occasion of his master degree in 2018 at the KIOSK space in Ghent (Belgium).
The installation is composed of multiple media that intertwine in a path of space-time.

The story of the protagonist, Thomas, is constructed through a succession of coincidences between the artist’s biography and the historical events that start with the significant event in the history of Albania and Albanian immigration to Italy: the landing of thousands of migrants fleeing to Italy on board the ship Vlora in the port of Bari on August 8, 1991.

The artist unites, superimposes and interprets the documents of the research through a collage operation where the set of elements of different typologies and times are developed in a narration and in an experiential visit path supported by an audioguide.

8 August 1991:
the cargo ship Vlora arrives in Bari (IT) with 20,000 migrants
albanesi on board.
9 August 1991:
I was born in Bergamo.
20,000 people were “Italian” one day before me,
but they could not enjoy the same rights as me.
