Every week WHAT IS ON wants to tell the protagonists and the events that animate the world of contemporary Apulian art and culture. Today we have the pleasure of speaking with Pierluigi Bosna, co-founder of UNKNOWNOW 206 art gallery in Bari. The main purpose of the gallery is to make known local artists and not related to the world of street art.

1) Hello Pierluigi! Apuliart really likes your project of UNKNOWNOW 206, because you have the goal of making known and supporting young artists or outsiders, local or otherwise, with a particular interest in street art. But Tell us about how and when this project was born.

I’m a set designer and so I needed a space to work with other artists.
Immediately the idea is shared with Michele Calderoni (well-known writer from Bari), friend and member of my own crew “Hell’s Vastas” (historic Bari crew of graffiti born at the end of 1995). After months of research and innumerable places visited in the city of Bari we meet “206”. An ex-industrial and large space painted gray (both the floor and the walls), but despite its initial presentation 206 makes us fall in love with him and moves us to bet on it. Also, the area we like, San Pasquale district of the city of Bari still underground.

Then we meet Natale Sciaqua, then nicknamed by us “Christmas”, who immediately became interested in our project. he convinces us thanks to his experience and his willingness to contribute actively, to the web communication also economically, to the restyling of 206.

We have inaugurated the on December 15 with theUNKNOWNOW 206, an exhibition of SAME, the best Dutch writer in Europe, the only date in Italy, right in our city Bari, to which, with this project, we want to give a chance.

2) Enclose the ‘s purpose in three words.

DO, EMOTION, FUN

3) What feedback did your project have from the city of Bari and from the artists who took part in?

The atmosphere is enveloping! practically stormed! this is great! I know it especially relevant because it confirms that the city of Bari lacked exactly what we are doing! We consider Bari as one of the most active and constant Italian cities in the graffiti scene, in this regard the historical New York crew of TFP after several steps in Bari a few months ago asked our crew “Hell’s Vastas” to become part of the TFP , great satisfaction for us all.

4)What’s different about your gallery compare to others around the world?

We can not talk about the whole world, we do not know all that there is, surely in Bari we are offering a place without prejudices but without distorting our style dictated by our background

5) In our Regeneration category we interview young emerging artists on their art but also on the personal relationship with the homeland. What you think of the artistic landscape in Puglia? Is Puglia a fertile ground to create and do something for young artists or in general to promote art?

Puglia is full of artists of musicians and talent. So to us is “THE PLACE TO BE”!
